Role of Media in Society

As we all know that media become a part of everyone’s life. Media plays an important and major role in today’s society, we can also say that media has become food to strengthen our wean society.

Purpose of a media

The main motive or purpose of a media is to give information about current news, gossips, fashion, and the latest gadgets in the market. The role of media has to be one way trading and marketing of products, and prejudices. The media claimed to be righteousness and equity for the common man to rich man.

Media is considered as “mirror” of the modern society, infect, it is the media which shapes our lives.

The media has influenced our society in many ways. It is the media that helps the masses to get information about a lot of things and also form opinions and make a judgment regarding various issues. It is the media, which keeps updated and informed about what is happening around them and the world that everyone draws something from it.

Media acts as a watchdog

However, we all know a coin has two sides. Similarly, media also has a negative influence and a positive influence on society. It just depends on our self that how we consume the media, in a good way or in a bad way. Too much intervention of media in everything is a matter of concern. For political democracy, media is considered as “Watchdog”. Media acts as a watchdog to protect public interest against malpractices and create public awareness.

Primary role of media in society

Today when politicians are taking full advantage of their positions, an evil nexus of mafia and crime syndicate is making the life of common man miserable, taxpayer’s money is siphoned out for the personal gain of the influential and ordinary people are a mere spectator-media has a greater responsibility as the fourth pillar of democracy along with judiciary, executive and legislature, media of today has an embracing role to act against the injustice, oppression, misdeeds, and parts of our society. Media helps in fighting against corruption, nepotism, cronyism of institutional machinery and carrying out relentless campaigns against them.                                                                     

The media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent because they control the minds of the masses. The overall influence of mass media has increased drastically over the years and will continue to do so as media itself improve.
