Media literacy does not consist of (A) Strategies for analysing and discussing media messages. (B) Heightened expectations from media. (C) Respect for the power of media messages. (D) Knowledge of genre conventions and the recognition of their mixing. Correct Ans: (B) Explanation: Media literacy helps individuals analyze, interpret, and evaluate media messages. It teaches people to understand media influence and make informed choices. However, it does not include heightened expectations from media because media content differs in accuracy, reliability, and intent. A key part of media literacy involves strategies for analyzing and discussing media messages. People learn to identify bias, detect misinformation, and question sources. By using these strategies, audiences develop critical thinking skills and avoid manipulation. Respect for the power of media messages is another important element. Media shapes public opinion, influences behaviors, and impacts culture. Understanding this power helps individuals recognize both the positive and negative effects of media. Additionally, media literacy includes knowledge of genre conventions and their mixing. Different genres, such as news, entertainment, and advertising, follow specific formats. Recognizing these conventions allows audiences to differentiate between fact and fiction. It also helps them identify when media blends genres, such as in infotainment or branded content. In contrast, heightened expectations from media can lead to disappointment or misinformation. Media exists for various purposes, including entertainment, persuasion, and information. Expecting complete truth, objectivity, or quality from all media sources is unrealistic. In conclusion, media literacy focuses on analysis, awareness, and critical thinking. However, it does not involve expecting too much from media, as content varies widely. Developing media literacy ensures that audiences remain informed, skeptical, and engaged with the media they consume.
