Codes:(a)(b)(c)(d)(A)(i)(iii)(ii)(iv)(B)(iv)(iii)(ii)(i)(C)(ii)(i)(iv)(iii)(D)(ii)(iii)(i)(iv) Correct Ans: (B) Explanation: Media experts have provided insightful perspectives on mass communication. Their observations highlight both the potential and challenges of media evolution. First, Denis McQuail emphasized the dual nature of mass media. He noted that every new medium receives praise for its educational value but also faces criticism for its negative influence. His statement reflects society’s ongoing debate about media’s role. Meanwhile, Mark Fowler, a former FCC chairman, made a bold comparison. He described television as a "toaster with pictures", downplaying its significance. He argued that TV should function as a business tool rather than a regulated public service. His view sparked debates on media deregulation. On the other hand, Matt Drudge, an internet journalist, predicted the rise of citizen journalism. He believed that millions of people would become reporters, contributing to news dissemination. His statement accurately foresaw how social media and online platforms would transform news reporting. Lastly, Tony Benn compared the internet to a large-scale "street corner meeting". He viewed digital platforms as public spaces where people could freely express opinions. His perspective highlights the internet’s role in fostering discussion and democracy. These experts captured the evolving nature of mass media. While some focused on regulation, others emphasized its social impact. Since media continues to evolve, their insights remain relevant in today’s digital landscape. Understanding these perspectives helps media students analyze communication trends effectively.
