Nowadays mass communication is the fastest way to telecast news information, broadcast, entertainment, to the entire world at the same time. The information was generally delivered to the public by the using of newspapers, books magazines, websites, blogs, radio, films, and the internet as well. There is a rapid expansion in the industry of media from the last few years.

What is Journalism and Who is a Journalist?

Journalism is a prestigious profession as well as a highly paid job. It is concerned with the collection and distribution of news through print media and as well as electronic media to its target audience. The objective of journalism is to inform and interpret, educate and enlighten the people.

A journalist is a professional writer, who informs and educates people about the happenings around to make them aware and well-informed. Journalists play a very important role in the growth and advancement of the nation. They hold the power to influence the masses and classes of people with their information bombardment. Thus we can say that Journalism is an integral part of mass communication.

Scope in Mass Communication

One can adopt journalism as a career, just after passing the Senior Secondary Examination and completing your professional degree or diploma courses in mass communication from the university where this course is offered. The enrolment process takes place in almost all art colleges. After it, you can work in different sectors like reporting, writing, editing, photographing, advertising, public relation, radio, newspaper, and many other various sectors.

The first one is the Print Medium like newspaper, magazine, and books, etc., The second one is the Non-Print (Audio/Visual) Medium like radio, television, and web.

Currently, various central and state universities in India offer journalism courses at the undergraduate level. In some of the media organization, it is mostly unpaid, but the experience is quite important in the long-run to a media professional in the future. It may take you on high depending upon your work effort, struggle, and experiences. After Some Experience you may become editor or anchor then your salary would be around 20,000 to 45,000 per month. Then after enough experience and have enterprise in a particular field then you easily make a six-figure income.
